Separation problems

September 21, 2021, 9:20 PM
Q: My 4 month old Malshi is having significant separation anxiety. We have left him alone a handful of times and never more than 2 hours. He gets extremely stressed, poops, stomps all through the poop and tears up the pee pad on top of barking and whining the entire time. When we are home we put him in his crate with the door closed for naps and he does fine because he can sense that we are home. But the minute he determines he is left alone in the house he goes crazy with the above destructive behaviors.
A: Is it possible to give him more space when you are to be away?  You could also look into two products-Clomicalm and Adaptil which can help but do require some conditioning steps simultaneously with the drug.
