Leash Training
October 26, 2016, 11:53 AM- Q: My almost nine week old yorkie (male) hates his leash. I put it on his harness and he lays down on the floor refusing to move. I got him to walk a little last night with the incentive of a treat. Help please.
- A: Your puppy needs to learn the leash is not a threat. I think many times it helps to fix a short 12-18' section of soft rope to his collar and let him drag it around so he becomes accustomed to it being there. Certainly the use of treats and a reassuring voice are also very helpful.
