Spaying

July 21, 2012, 8:47 AM
Q: I've always had male dogs, and we are reserving our first female dog. It is a Havanese. I am wondering what age do you have females spayed? Thanks!
A: It is important to spay your dog before she comes in heat the first time. For a Havanese this would best be at about 5 1/2 months of age. The spay/neuter video explains why spaying at the right time is important. thanks Dr. Rybka
