What body temperature is okay?

March 4, 2018, 10:00 PM
Q: What is the "normal" temperature range for a puppy/dog?
A: If we are talking about rectal body temperature for a puppy between 9 to 16 weeks the ideal range would be 100-101.5. I would not be alarmed by a body temperature 1 degree outside of that range as long as the puppy feels well and is eating. Retake the temperature anytime you have a question and follow any trends of rising or falling temperatures to be sure they adjust and stay within expected range. Body temperature fluctuates throughout the day depending on activity level and food intake.
