Gagging After Eating or Drinking

Q: My 12 week puppy is making a noise like he is choking or like he's going to vomit especially after he drinks or eats?

A: As long as he feels good otherwise this is not cause for alarm. That hacking, gagging sound is an indication of irritation in the pharynx or back of the throat. If that has only been noticeable for a couple days you can just watch and see, it may resolve on its own. The irritation can come from chewing on stuff but if he is willing to eat ans swallows normally he is not choked.
