- A: The most common problem effecting coat quality is over bathing. Try not to bathe more than once a week and then only if necessary. Using a mild shampoo like aloe and oatmeal as well as a "leave on" conditioner will help also. Provide the highest quality food you can afford and supplement the diet with probitics and a multi vitamin/mineral product allows your puppy to grow and maintain healthy skin and hair.
