Swelling on Leg

Q: I noticed that my 5 month old french bulldog has what looks like a swollen area on his back right hind leg. It's not hard like a lump, it's more squishy as if it was fluid. It doesn't seem to bother him or be painful for him, his appetite and fluid intake is normal... He plays and runs around as he normally does. He's still very active, we noticed yesterday 9/30/2013. Wondering what it might be and if we should take him to the vet.
