Irritated eye

Q: Woke up today and it appears my Frenchie has pink eye. Eye is tearing, some white mucus discharge, and is pink. Any suggestions for anything over the counter or should I take her to the vet? Thanks.

A: Keeping the eye clean and moist with ophthalmic saline solution would be your best home care step but if there is not overnight improvement you need to have your vet check it.
