Appearance

Mini Aussiedoodles are bred by crossing a Mini Australian Shepherd and a Miniature size Poodle. The Mini Australian Shepherd is a small-sized hardy dog that is well known for its stunning features and gorgeous coat markings. The Mini Poodles are also small-sized dogs that are low shedding and hypoallergenic, which makes them great for people who suffer from allergies or other sensitivities to dogs’ hair or dander.

Mini Aussiedoodles inherit their stunning appearance and coat qualities from both of their parents. Their build is athletic and sturdy, and their appearance elegant. Mini Aussiedoodles have a wiry coat that is long with feathering on the ears, tail, legs, and chest. Their coat texture can be straight, wavy, or curly.

The Mini Aussiedoodle eyes can be black, brown, hazel, or blue. Their ears are floppy and triangle shaped, and they have a medium-length muzzle. Depending on the size of their parents, Mini Aussiedoodles can be small to medium-sized. On average, the Mini Aussiedoodle height is between 12 and 18 inches with a weight of 15 to 35 pounds for a full grown Mini Aussiedoodle adult. These cute dogs usually have a multi-colored coat with beautiful patterns. Mini Aussiedoodle colors include brown, black, gray, silver, blue, red, yellow, and white.

Temperament

Mini Aussiedoodles are extremely sweet, energetic, friendly, well-behaved, and calm dogs. They have a good reputation for being good with kids and people in general. They are also very sociable when it comes to strangers. However, they might have a slight prey drive so it's important to keep them on a leash when walking them outside to avoid over-excitement at the sight of other small dogs. Although they love other dogs just as much as they love people, Mini Aussiedoodles might want to chase their speedy, small-dog friends.

Because of their high energy, Mini Aussiedoodles are always in search of a fun activity to do. They love to play games that involve chasing and fetching, but they are also big fans of going on hikes, runs, and long walks around the neighborhood. Kids are often their best friends since they share the same drive to have fun. Mini Aussiedoodles love to play games, but they enjoy snuggle time just as much. These adorable dogs are a popular breed among pet owners because of their affectionate, cuddly nature, calm temperament, and sweet disposition. They are also a very quiet breed that doesn’t bark excessively and is great for apartment living.

Care

Mini Aussiedoodle Grooming

Regular grooming is important for all dogs, but it is especially important for dog breeds like the Mini Aussiedoodles because of their long coat. Brushing, combing, bathing, trimming the hair around the ears, nails clipping, and teeth cleaning are just some of the grooming tasks that need to be done on a regular basis. Mini Aussiedoodle grooming is effortless compared to other dog breeds. These stunning dogs usually need one or two weekly brushes and a monthly or bi-monthly bath to keep their coats tangle-free and shiny. Their teeth should be brushed at least once a week and their ears need to be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth. Mini Aussiedoodles should also get their nails trimmed every two months or when needed.

Mini Aussiedoodle Exercise Needs

Despite their small, adorable size, Mini Aussiedoodles have plenty of energy to spend. These dogs are big fans of chases, dog games, hikes, and outdoor adventures. They like to be on the move so regular exercise is necessary. The ideal exercise routine for Mini Aussiedoodles is one walk during the morning, one during the evening, and plenty of active play and games indoors. Occasional chases, jogs, or runs at the dog park are also a good way to keep your little dog happy and in great shape.

Mini Aussiedoodle Health

Mini Aussiedoodles are one of the healthiest mixed dog breeds. As hybrids of a cross between purebred breeds, Mini Aussiedoodles have a mixed-gene pool that allows them to be protected from the ailments that are common in their parents’ breeds. Some conditions that they can develop include cataracts, ear infections, dental issues, and skin irritability.

Mini Aussiedoodle Lifespan

The average lifespan of a Mini Aussiedoodle is most commonly between 12 and 15 years. Although most have a life expectancy of 14-15 years, there have been reports of Mini Aussiedoodles living 16+ years. To ensure that your little fur baby lives a long and healthy life, always keep to regular vet checks and provide high quality dog food.

Mini Aussiedoodle Training

Like their parents, Mini Aussiedoodles are the smartest dogs on the block. Their intelligence is renowned, as is their eagerness to please their owners. Mini Aussiedoodle puppies are eager learners who crave challenges. They enjoy basic command training and trick learning, but they want as much opportunity to impress as possible.

These smart puppies are energetic and will respond best to training that consists of games and fun activities. They are also sensitive and don’t take well to being yelled at or punished. Harsh treatment can turn any dog into a shy or even aggressive fur baby, so it is best avoided. Mini Aussiedoodle puppies like to be rewarded with delicious treats, praise, and their favorite dog toys.

Socializing Mini Aussiedoodle puppies is one activity your fur baby will love dearly. Like all friendly puppies, Mini Aussiedoodles will make friends easily with everyone they come in contact with. They are naturally friendly with other dogs, people, and other household pets, but they should be socialized nonetheless. The best way to begin socializing a puppy is to find a safe, low-distraction environment and gradually introduce friends or family members to your puppy.

History

The Mini Aussiedoodle is a hybrid puppy that was created in the early 1990s by crossing a Mini Australian Shepherd with a Mini Poodle. The first Mini Aussiedoodle was bred to be a smaller version of the Mini Australian Shepherd with personality traits and physical features, and to inherit the Poodle's hypoallergenic qualities.

Although they weren't as popular as other designer dog breeds during their debut, Mini Aussiedoodles did make a lasting impression with dog lovers in the last few years. Having been created to have similar physical characteristics as their Mini Aussie parent (blue or brown eyes, multi-colored coat with beautiful patterns and markings) and to be of a smaller size, Mini Aussiedoodles were quickly deemed great small dogs for city life.

The Mini Aussiedoodles became increasingly popular because they were small enough to fit comfortably in apartments but still had the same characteristics as their larger counterparts, such as intelligence, loyalty, and social skills. The Poodle and Australian Shepherd are counted as two of the smartest dog breeds on earth.

Naturally, this intelligence is passed down to the Mini Aussiedoodle puppies, making them just as smart and as trainable as their parents. Mini Aussiedoodles, like their parents, can be trained for advanced obedience, agility, therapy and assistance, service, and more complex dog sports. They also benefit from better health and a longer lifespan.

Today, the Mini Aussiedoodle mix is one of the most popular doodle breeds in Australia, Europe, and the United States.
