Appearance
Small, adorable, and perfectly snuggly, Cavapoos can charm a heart on sight. These cute little doodle dogs inherit features from both of their parents. Their ears are floppy and cute. Their noses are dark, tiny, and ready for boops. Despite appearing soft and fragile, their build is muscular and athletic. The Cavapoo size can vary a bit between pups, but generally, a full grown Cavapoo should weigh 8 to 20 pounds and stand at 9 to 14 inches tall.
Because they are hybrids, Cavapoos can have straight hair like their Cavalier parent, a wavy-textured coat, or tight curls that resemble those of their Poodle parent. The most common Cavapoo colors are black, brown, white, and yellow, with various combinations of these colors and possible patterns and markings. Their coats can be tricolor, parti-colored, or solid colored. Because they generally take after their Poodle parent more, Cavapoo dogs shed very little if at all, and have great hypoallergenic qualities.

Cavapoos have an excellent temperament. They are composed, calm, patient, and very open towards others. They are also very attentive and responsive to the needs of those around them, aspects that make them great for therapy work. Friendliness is in their genes as is affection.

They are passionate about making friends among other fur babies and are very well-behaved towards strangers and other pets they have only just met. Going to the dog park is one of their favorite activities. They enjoy enticing other dogs in friendly chases and they love a good game of fetching.
When it comes to their pet parents, these little Cavapoo dogs love big. They are quick to bond once they arrive home as puppies and become very attached to family members. Unbreakable bonds are common in dogs, but Cavapoos go the extra mile to prove their loyalty. They often shower their humans with cuddles and kisses, and nap attached at the hip as much as they can. Although their attachment is strong, Cavapoos are known to be independent dogs. Leaving them alone doesn’t come with risks of destructive behavior or separation anxiety.

Cavapoo Grooming
The stunning little Cavapoos have moderate grooming requirements. If their coats are kept in a short puppy cut, they should be brushed once or twice every week. If their coats are kept long, a daily brushing is a better routine to avoid hair tangles or even possible matting. A monthly bath is recommended and will help with keeping their coats soft and shiny. Because they are sometimes prone to tartar build-up, it is beneficial to clean their teeth as often as possible. Providing Cavapoos with dental sticks is also a great way to ensure good dental hygiene.
Cavapoo Exercise Needs
Cavapoos are on the more relaxed side of the Doodle breed family. These toy-sized dogs often have low exercise needs. An ideal routine for them includes one or two daily walks and some indoor fun with interactive games, toys, and puzzles. The occasional hike, swim, or long walk are recommended for a happy and healthy Cavapoo.
Cavapoo Health
As a mixed breed, the Cavapoo knows better health than most dogs. Althouth there are many ailments that affect small dogs, the Cavapoo is less likely to inherit them from its parents. Some issues they can develop include dog allergies, hip dysplasia, cataracts, and although rare, epilepsy in some cases. Some Cavapoos are also prone to weight gain, so it is always recommended to stick to a strict diet and exercise regimen.

By crossing a Cavalier spaniel with a Miniature Poodle, Cavapoo breeders brought to life a magnificent little dog with the sweet nature of the Cavalier spaniel. Miniature Poodles were chosen for the Cavapoo mix for their keen intelligence, smaller size, and hypoallergenic qualities.
Although they’ve been around for a little while compared to other dog breeds, the Cavapoo puppies have seen a skyrocket in popularity since their first days.
