Q: Hi, my maltipoo is a bit of a daddy's girls. She is becoming more aggressive with me. She growls and bites at me, sometimes lunging at me. I have tried to be stern with her but that riles her up more and bites at me. I have tried distracting her but that rarely works. My husband had her on the bed and she certainly didn't want me there. She eventually calmed down and I could sit and she stopped attacking. She's only 10 weeks old and I would like this resolved sooner than later. Any suggestions before we try to locate a trainer? It's difficult where we live in a small coastal community. Thank you.
A: The first step is for your husband to show her that you are part of the family, exaggerating affection and acceptance of you in front of her.  The next is for as much interaction is with all 3 of you simultaneously.  The idea is to say "if she is going to be accepted it is with you involved."  Remember she is a puppy and you can and must be in charge.
