Melatonin to calm dog?

July 4, 2018, 1:35 PM
Q: My cavapoo that is 9 months old is very anxious. I have been told you can give them melatonin to help with that. If so, how much would I give her. She weighs 13.9 lbs.
A: You can try melatonin to try to calm your dog, the dose varies considerably but it is a fairly safe drug to use. For 14 pounds I would start with 1mg twice daily and try it for a week or so, if the results are not okay increase it by 1 mg.
