Dry heaves

Q: We brought our 9 1/2 week old Morkie puppy home 9 days ago. Last night he had dry heaves in the middle of the night. This is the third time it has happened in the middle of the night and has never occurred during the day. His appetite is fine and his stools are normal. Thank you.

A: Most of the time when owners mention "dry heaves" it is actually a cough rather than an attempt at vomiting. As long as he feels well and eats good the I would give it a couple days to see which way it goes. Watch the "respiratory" set of videos.
